St. Bonaventure On Tap For Men's Soccer Saturday Night

Former Flyers Will Be Recognized at Half Time on Alumni Night

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will play host to St. Bonaventure Saturday night in Atlantic 10 action. The Flyers and Bonnies will kick off just after 7 p.m. at Baujan Field and admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (4-2-6, 2-1-2 A-10) extended its home unbeaten streak to five matches on Wednesday with a 5-0 win over visiting Baldwin Wallace on Senior Night, the team's seventh shutout of the season. The Flyers' offense is led by senior Ethan Sassine with six goals (39th NCAA) and 14 points (54th NCAA) while junior Martin Bakken has knocked in four goals on the year. Senior keeper Gavin Krenecki has worked a total of 990 minutes between the posts and carries a 0.45 GAA (8th NCAA) and an 0.865 save pct. (7th NCAA).

SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
St. Bonaventure (3-7-2, 1-3-1 A-10) is coming off a 6-5 loss to then-24th-ranked George Mason at home on Oct. 11. The Bonnies' Seth Hammond set a new program record with four assists, bringing his season total to five, while five different players scored. Hammond leads the SBU offense with seven goals (21st NCAA) on 35 shots while Felix Schone (3-6-2) is St. Bonaventure's primary goalkeeper with a 1.86 GAA and 28 saves.

Dayton Leads, 16-8-2
In a series that dates back to to Dayton's first year in the Atlantic 10 Conference (1995), UD and SBU have previously met 26 times. The Flyers and Bonnies last squared off on Oct. 19, 2024 in Olean, N.Y., and Dayton claimed a 2-1 win.

LAST TIME OUT
Five different Flyers scored Wednesday night after Dayton honored its four senior team members before the match for Senior Night. Freshmen Kristjan Frostason and Maxim Scordo both scored their first collegiate goals and junior Martin Bakken scored what proved to be the game-winner less than five minutes into the match. The Flyers out-shot the Yellow Jackets by a margin of 26-6, led by senior Ethan Sassine with five.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's most recent DI Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on Oct. 16, Dayton ranked 119th according to NCAA.com. St. Bonaventure came in at 193.

FLYER FACTS
• Dennis Currier is in his 21st season as head coach of the Flyers in 2025. His record at Dayton is 198-125-67 (.594) and his career win-loss mark sits at 386-174-79 (.667) over a total of 33 seasons. Currier has tallied the program's most wins (198) and most winning seasons (13).
• On Sept. 15, Farouq Ogundare picked up his first career Atlantic 10 weekly award after being named the league's Rookie of the Week. Following the first week of the season, three Flyers were recognized by the A-10. Ethan Sassine was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Gavin Krenecki garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades and Mikkel Madsen secured the Rookie of the Week honor on Aug. 25.
• Five Flyers were named to the 2025 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team: Andrew Armstrong, Martin Bakken, Miles Bonham, Ethan Sassine and Paul Yeboah.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title four times (1998, 2000, 2009, 2020). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title six times (1997, 1998, 2008, 2015, 2023, 2024) resulting in six appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Over 23 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 23-11-5 record in the conference postseason championship, reaching the title match nine times.
• The Flyers finished the 2024 season with a 14-3-3 overall record and a 5-1-2 conference mark, finishing in second place in regular-season play. 

UP NEXT
Dayton will play its last regular-season road match on Saturday, Oct. 25 when it heads to the nation's capital to square off against George Washington. The Flyers and Revolutionaries are set to kickoff at 3 p.m. at GW Soccer Field in Washington, D.C.
