DAYTON – After opening the conference slate on the road, Dayton volleyball will host Fordham on Oct. 3-4 in the Frericks Center. First serves are set for 7 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
In celebration of the Atlantic 10 home opener, the first 100 fans will receive free popcorn at Friday night's match.
DAVIDSON AND DUQUESNE RESULTS
The Flyers have won their last three showings, facing Davidson and Duquesne on the road. The Wildcats and Flyers fought back-and-forth for an exciting five-set match, but Dayton has taken off to win its last two outings in straight sets.
Through the first three matches of the conference schedule, Kamryn Hunt leads Dayton with 48 kills. Karissa Kaminski has four service aces and is the only Flyer to have more than one in conference play. The libero also leads the team in digs with 58. Liana Sarkissian has one solo and 11 block assists with Abigail Cresse just behind her with two solo blocks and nine block assists.
ON A ROLL
With a 3-0 start to Atlantic 10 competition, the Flyers have now earned 41-straight regular season, conference wins. Dayton's last regular season loss against an A-10 opponent was a four-set loss at home against Loyola Chicago on Nov. 5, 2022.
ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED
During the Flyer Invitational, Liana Sarkissian crossed 500 career kills in a four-set win over UCSB. The senior is currently second on the team in kills with 110 and is averaging 2.24 kills per set.
Additionally, Sarkissian is first in the Atlantic 10 in hitting percentage with .379. Her hitting percentage is also No. 66 in the country.
DIGGING IT
Karissa Kaminski has 1,476 career digs, inching closer to the 1,500 mark. She also moved into fifth in program history in career digs in Saturday's win over Davidson, previously held by Cindy Moffitt with 1,446 digs.
The senior libero leads the conference in digs per set (4.46) and is second in total digs with 223.
PERFECT ATTENDANCE
Just two players have appeared in every set this season.
Kamryn Hunt and Karissa Kaminski have played in all 50 sets. Behind them are Lily Barry and Liana Sarkissian at 49 and then Viktoria Wahlgren with 47 sets played.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Fordham is 6-6 overall and 0-2 in the Atlantic 10. The Rams opened their A-10 schedule at home against Loyola Chicago, falling in a three set and a four-set match. Fordham is currently first in the country in blocks per set, averaging 3.41 blocks per set. They also lead the A-10 in total blocks with 150 and opponent hitting percentage at .169.
Erynn Sweeney is the team's leader in kills with 127. Audrey Brown is second with 124 kills and 65 blocks. Setter Whitney Woodrow has 332 assists and 13 aces, leading Fordham. Junior Tatum Holderied is first in the country in blocks per set with 2.33 blocks. She is second in the nation and first in the conference with 100 total blocks.
LAST MEETING
Dayton is 50-1 all-time against Fordham, winning the last 45 meetings. The Rams only win against the Flyers came back on Nov. 21, 1997. In last season's series, Dayton swept Fordham in both matches in the Bronx.
Lexie Almodovar broke the career kills record in the afternoon win on Saturday, Oct. 26. Alyssa Miller set a season high in digs with 21. The Flyers also held the Rams to a .098 attack percentage.
UP NEXT
UD will host Saint Louis on Oct. 11-12 in the Frericks Center before heading to the nation's capital to face George Washington on Oct. 17-18.
