DAYTON – The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to continue its Atlantic 10 schedule with a midweek match against Duquesne.
First serve will be at 5 p.m. in the Frericks Center. The match will be livestreamed on ESPN+.
GEORGE WASHINGTON RECAP
UD continued its undefeated Atlantic 10 play with a pair of road wins over George Washington, winning in five sets on Friday and in four on Saturday.
Kamryn Hunt led offensive efforts for the Flyers with 38 kills, averaging 4.22 kills per set. Senior libero Karissa Kaminski tabbed 42 digs, leading Dayton. Viktoria Wahlgren earned 66 assists with Abigail Cresse leading blocking efforts with 10 total blocks.
BRINGING HOME HARDWARE
The Flyers earned back-to-back Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Oct. 6 and 13.
Kamryn Hunt won the award after defeating Duquesne and Fordham, tallying 46 kills in 10 sets played. Viktoria Wahlgren earned the distinction on Oct. 13 with 63 assists in wins over Saint Louis. This was the first A-10 award for both Flyers.
HITTING NEW HIGHS
Senior Liana Sarkissian continues to lead the Atlantic 10 in hitting percentage.
The outside hitter is hitting a .380 hitting percentage overall. Against conference opponents, she leads with a .403 hitting percentage.
LEADING THE LEAGUE
Dayton remains in the top two in multiple individual statistical categories.
Karissa Kaminski is second in the A-10 with .47 aces per set, 4.31 digs per set and 34 service aces. Kamryn Hunt, with 3.67 kills per set, also ranks second.
A TEAM EFFORT
With the Flyers a little more than halfway through the regular season, the team stands atop the A-10 in one category overall. Dayton holds first in hitting percentage at .245.
Against Atlantic 10 opponents, Dayton leads the conference in points per set (17.55), hitting percentage (.302), assists per set (12.76), kills per set (13.88), opponent blocks per set (1.52), opponent total blocks (50.0) and opponent aces (40).
RPI UPDATE
In the third week of the NCAA's RPI ratings, Dayton has moved up from No. 77 to No. 62, improving from its starting position at 76.
Next in the Atlantic 10 is George Mason who is No. 96. Rounding out the top five in the A-10 are Loyola Chicago at No. 131, VCU at No. 144 and George Washington at No. 151.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
The Dukes are entering the match 11-9 overall with a 3-6 Atlantic 10 record after defeating Fordham in a pair of road matches.
Carsyn Henschen, the current Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, averaged four kills per set and one block per set while hitting .418 against the Rams. Emersen Schrom leads Duquesne with 319 kills. Chloe Wilmot leads her team, and the A-10, with 10.53 assists per set and 800 assists this season. Ariel Helm has 72 blocks to lead the Dukes.
LAST MEETING
Dayton swept Duquesne in Pittsburgh on Sept. 30.
Kamryn Hunt posted a match-leading 18 kills. Abigail Cresse recorded three blocks. Melina Schrader led the Flyers with 27 assists.
UP NEXT
UD hosts George Mason on Oct. 24-25 in the Frericks Center. Saturday's match will be the team's Alumnae Day.
