Volleyball Prepares For Home Series Against George Mason

Dayton Will Recognize Alumnae On Saturday

DAYTON – The University of Dayton looks to continue its perfect conference record, playing George Mason in a pair of home matches on Oct. 24-25.

Saturday's match will be the team's Alumnae Day, recognizing previous players. There will also be a bucket hat giveaway for the first 100 fans in attendance.

GEORGE WASHINGTON AND DUQUESNE RESULTS
The Flyers have won ten-straight matches, including defeating George Washington on Oct. 17-18 and Duquesne on Oct. 21.

In 12 sets played, Kamryn Hunt leads Dayton with 50 kills, averaging 4.17 kills per set. Liana Sarkissian led blocking efforts with three solo blocks and 14 block assists. Karissa Kaminski tallied a combined 58 digs, good for 4.83 digs per set in the three wins.

HITTING NEW HIGHS
Senior Liana Sarkissian continues to lead the Atlantic 10 in hitting percentage.

The outside hitter is hitting a .384 hitting percentage overall. Against conference opponents, she leads with a .411 hitting percentage.

LEADING THE LEAGUE
Dayton remains in the top two in multiple individual statistical categories.

Karissa Kaminski is second in the A-10 with .48 aces/set, 4.35 digs/set, 326 digs and 36 service aces. Kamryn Hunt, with 3.68 kills/set, also ranks second.

Against the Atlantic 10, the junior leads the Atlantic 10 with 4.22 kills/set, 4.56 points/set and 164 points. Kaminski is also second with 159 digs and 4.42 digs/set.

A TEAM EFFORT
With the Flyers more than halfway through the regular season, the team stands atop the A-10 in two categories overall. Dayton holds first in hitting percentage at .245 and opponent hitting percentage at .171.

Against Atlantic 10 opponents, Dayton leads the conference in hitting percentage (.297), points/set (17.64), points (635), opponent hitting percentage (.140), opponent blocks/set (1.50) and opponent blocks (54).

RPI UPDATE
In the third week of the NCAA's RPI ratings, Dayton has moved up from No. 77 to No. 62, improving from its starting position at 76.

Next in the Atlantic 10 is George Mason, who is No. 96. Rounding out the top five in the A-10 are Loyola Chicago at No. 131, VCU at No. 144 and George Washington at No. 151.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
George Mason is 14-6 overall with a 7-2 conference record. The Patriots also announced an extension for head coach Megan Schifflett Bachmann on Oct. 16. Overall, George Mason leads the conference in aces/set (1.93), aces (154), opponent assists/set (10.25), opponent kills/set (10.75) and opponent blocks/set (1.72).

Kiera Hamilton, a two-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, leads George Mason with 286 kills. Libero Autumn Martinez-Robinson has 334 digs and 50 service aces to lead the Patriots.

LAST MEETING
The Flyers have won all twenty meetings against the Patriots, dating back to 2001. In last year's matchups, Dayton won in four and then three sets.

In the three-set win, UD held George Mason to a .000 attack percentage in the second and third sets. Liana Sarkissian posted eight total blocks, with Lexi Almodovar leading the day with 17 kills.

UP NEXT
Dayton goes back on the road for an Atlantic 10 Championship rematch against Loyola Chicago on Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
