Hunt, Kaminski, Wahlgren And Horsmon Win A-10 Volleyball End-Of-Season Awards

The Flyers Earned A Total Of 13 Conference Honors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Dayton volleyball team won four of the five major year-end Atlantic 10 awards after its third consecutive perfect conference record, the conference announced Thursday.

Kamryn Hunt won Player of the Year, Karissa Kaminski was named Libero of the Year and Viktoria Wahlgren earned Setter of the Year. Head coach Tim Horsmon is the A-10 Coach of the Year for the ninth time in his 17 seasons with the program.

Horsmon reached the 600-career win milestone earlier this season and led the team to another Atlantic 10 regular season title, going 18-0 in conference competition.

On the All-Atlantic 10 first team, Hunt and Wahlgren are joined by Liana Sarkissian.

Hunt's 412 kills lead the Flyers, highlighting her impact on the court. The outside hitter is second in the A-10 in kills (412), kills per set (4.00), points (460.5), and points per set (4.47). In conference play, the six-rotation junior is first in the Atlantic 10 in kills (288), kills per set (4.5), points (325.5) and points per set (5.09). The Sylvania, Ohio native also earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week twice this season.

Hunt is Dayton's 13th A-10 Player of the Year, with Lexie Almodovar winning just last year.

Wahlgren is in the top five in all five statistical categories for the Flyers, including first in assists (655) and second in digs (213) and aces (27). Spending time as a setter and a right-side hitter, she is fifth on the team in kills (124) and played a key role in the team's versatility. The senior was also named Player of the Week once.

Wahlgren becomes the Flyers' eighth Setter of the Year, most recently won by Livie Sandt in 2021.

Kaminski's 452 digs and 51 aces lead Dayton this season. Overall, she is second in the conference in service aces (51), aces per set (.50) and digs per set (4.39). Her .50 aces per set currently ranks 20th in Division I. Against the A-10, the libero is first in digs per set (4.45) and third in service aces per set (.47). Kaminski earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week once this season. In addition to Libero of the Year, the Howards Grove, Wis. native earned second-team honors.

Kaminski is just the program's fourth Libero of the Year, last earned by Maura Collins in 2021.

Sarkissian has been a crucial leader for the Flyers, leading her team and the Atlantic 10 with a .400 attack percentage. Her efficiency also puts her at 25th in the country. The middle blocker/opposite's .424 attack percentage against the A-10 also holds first in the league. The senior has 103 total blocks to lead Dayton, while also being second in kills with 237. This is Sarkissian's second conference honor, earning All-Atlantic 10 second team distinction last season.

Redshirt freshmen Corrie Anderson and Abigail Cresse are All-Rookie Team honorees.

Anderson has had a strong first season for Dayton. The outside hitter is third on the team in kills (209). With 39 total blocks this season, she averages 2.94 points per set, good for third on the team.

Cresse has been pivotal for the Flyers' blocking efforts this season, helping to lead the conference with a .171 opponent attack percentage. She is second on the team in total blocks with 95, including a 10-block performance against VCU. She also earned A-10 Defensive Player of the Week this season.

The trio of Hunt, Sarkissian and Wahlgren was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team. To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, players must make significant contributions to the team, as well as have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
