Volleyball Heads To Atlantic 10 Championship As No. 1 Seed

UD Will Play In The Semifinals On Saturday

DAYTON – With a third consecutive regular season title, Dayton is headed to the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament as the number one seed.

Hosted by VCU, the tournament will take place on Nov. 21-23. The Flyers will play their first match in the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 22 at noon, facing the winner of fourth-seed VCU and fifth-seed George Mason.

Every match of the tournament will be livestreamed on ESPN+.

BRINGING HOME HARDWARE
The Flyers won four of the five major end-of-season Atlantic 10 awards on Thursday.

Kamryn Hunt won Player of the Year, leading the Flyers with 412 kills. Karissa Kaminski was named Libero of the Year as second in the conference in service aces (51), aces per set (.50) and digs per set (4.39). Viktoria Wahlgren earned Setter of the Year, leading the team with 655 assists and fifth in kills with 124.

Head coach Tim Horsmon is the A-10 Coach of the Year for the ninth time in his 17 seasons with the program.

MAKING THE TEAM
The Flyers earned nine All-Atlantic 10 team placements, including three first-team selections.

Kamryn Hunt, Liana Sarkissian and Viktoria Wahlgren made First Team All-Conference. Karissa Kaminski, the only libero on any All-Conference team, earned second-team honors. Redshirt freshmen Corrie Anderson and Abigail Cresse are on the All-Rookie team.

The first-team trio also received All-Academic Team honors.

HUNTING SEASON
Kamryn Hunt earned her second A-10 Player of the Week in the final week of the season.

She tallied 40 kills, averaging 6.67 kills per set in wins over Rhode Island. The junior also earned a .516 attack percentage. Hunt recorded six service aces, seven digs and three block assists against the Rams.

IN THE TOP 50
Kamryn Hunt, Karissa Kaminski and Liana Sarkissian are in the top 50 in Division I in a combined five categories.

Hunt is No. 39 with 460.5 points and No. 34 with 412 total kills. Kaminski clocks in at No. 20 with .50 aces per set and No. 15 with 51 total aces. Sarkissian is No. 25 in hitting percentage with .400.

ATOP THE A-10
In conference play, individual players are first in four statistical categories.

Liana Sarkissian's .424 hitting percentage is almost .05 higher than the next player in the league. Kamryn Hunt is first in points per set (4.50), kills (288), points per set (5.09) and points (325.5). Kaminski leads the Atlantic 10 in digs per set at 4.45.

LEADING THE LEAGUE
Overall, UD leads the conference in hitting percentage (.257) and opponent hitting percentage (.171). Against members of the A-10, this improves to .296 and .153, respectively.

Dayton is also the leader in points per set (17.74), assists per set (12.45), kills per set (13.52), opponent blocks per set (1.48) and opponent service aces (1.08) in conference play.

RPI UPDATE
The Flyers are far above their conference counterparts in the RPI rankings.

Dayton checks in at No. 47 this week. Next is George Washington at No. 128, followed by Loyola Chicago at No. 131, rounding out the top three.

KEEPING THINGS ROLLING
After winning the series over George Mason this season, Dayton reached 50 consecutive regular-season conference wins. It also became the longest active streak in Division I.

Going 18-0 in Atlantic 10 play this season, the Flyers have extended the streak to 56.

POSTSEASON PROWESS
Dayton has a 40-12 record in the Atlantic 10 Championships. Winning the A-10 Tournament would earn the program its 17th title and the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament, where UD is 12-18.
