Volleyball Hosts VCU For Final Home Series

The Seniors Will Be Recognized Before Friday’s Match

DAYTON – The University of Dayton volleyball team will play its last home matches of the 2025 season on Nov. 7-8. The Flyers will host the VCU Rams.

Friday night's match will recognize the graduating class with a pre-game ceremony. There will also be a t-shirt giveaway.

LOYOLA CHICAGO RESULTS
The Flyers earned at least a share of the regular season title with sweeps against Loyola Chicago last weekend. Saturday's win featured Liana Sarkissian with a .800 attack percentage, the best of her career.

Kamryn Hunt averaged 4.50 kills per set for a total of 27 kills. Viktoria Wahlgren recorded 66 assists in six sets played. Karissa Kaminski finished the weekend with 34 digs. Redshirt freshman Abigail Cresse tallied nine block assists.

ADDING TO THE RESUME
The Atlantic 10 named Karissa Kaminski a Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3. She was also named a CollegeAdvantage Student-Athlete of the Week.

The senior earned the award for the third time in her career after recording 34 digs, averaging 5.67 digs per set. Kaminski also recorded nine assists and two service aces.

REACHING NEW MILESTONES
During last Friday night's win over Loyola Chicago, head coach Tim Horsmon and junior Kamryn Hunt each reached career milestones.

Horsmon earned his 600th career win, while Hunt recorded her 1000th kill.

IN THE CHARTS
With a few weeks left in the regular season, Karissa Kaminski and Liana Sarkissian hold spots in the top 50 in Division I in multiple statistical categories.

Kaminski is No. 33 in aces per set (.46) and No. 28 in service aces (40). Sarkissian is No. 28 in the country in hitting percentage (.388).

INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Overall and against conference opponents, the Flyers hold the top spot in six statistical categories in the Atlantic 10.

Overall, Karissa Kaminski is first in aces per set (.46) and service aces (40), with Liana Sarkissian in first in hitting percentage (.388). Against A-10 opponents, Sarkissian leads in attack percentage (.411), Kamryn Hunt leads in kills per set (4.33), Kaminski leads in digs per set (4.44) and Hunt leads in points per set (4.73).

LEADING THE LEAGUE
Overall, Dayton continues to lead the A-10 in six stats: hitting percentage (.249), opponent hitting percentage (.167), opponent blocks (151), opponent blocks per set (1.74), opponent service aces (103) and opponent aces per set (1.18).

Against the A-10, UD leads in 12 statistical categories: points per set (17.81), hitting percentage (.292), assists per set (12.56), kills per set (13.69), opponent hitting percentage (.141), opponent assists (511), opponent kills (544), opponent blocks (75), opponent blocks per set (1.56), opponent aces (53), opponent aces per set (1.10) and opponent digs (661).

HOLDING STEADY
UD is ranked No. 47 in the NCAA's RPI for the second consecutive week after coming in at No. 76 in the first rankings.

George Mason is second in the Atlantic 10 at No. 131. Loyola Chicago is third at No. 131, with VCU in fourth at No. 147.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
VCU has a 12-10 overall record and is second in the Atlantic 10 at a 10-4 record. Last weekend, the Rams split a series against George Washington.

Julia Rienks leads the Rams with 325 kills, averaging 3.65 kills per set. Setter Cansin Sendir has 485 assists, with Elif Ozsoy behind her at 370. Haruka Sugimoto leads VCU with 326 digs. Block efforts are led by Letizia Galli with 101 total blocks.

LAST MEETING
Dayton has won the last five meetings. The last four matches have been won in straight sets.

Last season, Lexie Almodovar led the way with 28 kills. Liana Sarkissian was one of two Flyers with four service aces, also leading Dayton with six total blocks.

UP NEXT
The Flyers will wrap up the regular season at Rhode Island on Nov. 15-16 before turning to the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament, which takes place on Nov. 21-23 in Richmond, Va.
