Women's Basketball Faces LIU Sunday At UD Arena

Tip-Off Is At 1 p.m. For This Month's "937" Game

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball program returns home to UD Arena to host Long Island University in non-conference play this Sunday, Dec. 7. Tip-off is at 1 p.m. for this month's "937 Game".

SCOUTING THE FLYERS 
Dayton holds a .500 record on the season at 4-4 overall and is 0-1 in Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers are coming off a tough road loss Wednesday, but are 2-1 at home and looking forward to the friendly confines of UD Arena. 

Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter finished her fourth season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State. 

The Flyers are averaging 65.9 points per game and giving up 65.6 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 44.5 percent overall, 29.6 percent from three point range, and 70.5 percent from the free throw line. UD has a +3.6 rebounding margin as well. 

Senior Nayo Lear and junior Fatima Ibrahim have powered the offense with the former leading the team with 14.5 points per game and the latter adding 10.6 points and team-highs of 7.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks each outing. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
LONG ISLAND

Long Island is off to a solid start with a 4-3 record on the 2025-26 campaign. Despite having lost their last two contests, they have scored 69+ points in five of their first seven games. 

Head coach Neil Harrow is in his first season at LIU after assistant coaching stints at Troy, James Madison, and the WNBA's LA Sparks.

As a team, the Sharks are scoring 67.0 points per game, while only allowing their opponents to score 58.1. LIU is shooting 39.2 percent from the floor, 28.4 percent from behind the arc, and 76 percent from the free throw line. 

Arizona State transfer, Kadidia Toure, who has been named an NEC Prime Performer twice this season, is averaging 19.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, both team highs. Junior Janessa Williams is contributing 9.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game for the Sharks.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton opened up A-10 play with a tough 54-42 loss at George Washington Wednesday. The Flyers had two drought of over six minutes and fell in early league game. 

LIU is also coming off a loss after falling 58-43 to Rider University on Tuesday. The Sharks led by 2 at the half, before being outscored 34-17 in the second half of the contest. LIU was led by Kadidia Toure, who posted 14 points and 15 rebounds in the game.

SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and LIU are meeting for only the third time in their matchup's history. The all-time series record rests at 1-1, with LIU having won the latest contest, 67-63, back in 2007.
