DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team fell to George Mason University on Saturday afternoon, 86-53.
The Flyers (13-9, 8-5 A-10) dropped their fourth conference game of the season, despite a strong performance from Arianna Smith, who recorded her ninth double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 12, George Mason 16
- Graduate student Nicole Stephens got the Flyers first bucket with a swish from the corner at 9:24 mark
- Senior Arianna Smith got back to back buckets including securing an and-oneÂ
- Stephens got another bucket with a nice teardrop over the contested George Mason defense
- The Flyers kept the game tight with a four point lead, forcing six fouls while committing only fourÂ
2nd Quarter: Dayton 19, George Mason 37
- Stephens added to her strong start with another dagger that started off quarter strong for the Flyers
- Junior Shantavia Dawkins ended the Patriots 7-0 run by drawing a foul and putting the Flyers back in the game at the 7:59 mark
- Stephens continued her domination with a strong finish in the paint at 7:16 mark
- After the Patriots forced a five minute scoring drought, graduate student Rikki Harris put an end to it for the Flyers at 0:36 markÂ
3rd Quarter: Dayton 37, George Mason 56
- Senior Ivy Wolf got her first points of the game with a nice backdoor cut with an assist from Harris in the opening seconds of the quarter.Â
- Smith got back to back buckets to spark the Flyers hot start to the quarter.Â
- After a powerful rebound Smith earned another back to back bucket from an assist by Harris bringing her total to 13 on the court by the 6:55 mark.Â
- As the Patriots went 3-3 and forced the Flyers into a 2:30 minute scoring drought, junior Nayo Lear completed a euro step layup to end the Patriots run.Â
- Both teams went scoreless for over two minutes before Molly O'Riordean banks a three by an assist from Ivy Wolf earning her first points of the game.Â
- Furthering the Patriots scoring drought, Lear went for a layup and one giving the Flyers a 6-0 run in the final seconds of the quarter.Â
4th Quarter: Dayton 53, George Mason 86
- In the first seconds of the quarter Lear finished a turnaround jumper at the 9:30 markÂ
- Smith completed a layup pass from Stevens as Stevens seconds later earned her own solo jumper.Â
- Sophomore Danika Lightbourne brought her first points into the game with a powerful layup in her first minutes on the courtÂ
- Smith secures her 12th rebound of the game and capitalizes with a smooth jumper.
- After a three-minute scoring drought, Harris reignites the offense with a crucial three-pointer.
- In the final minute of the game, Dawkins drives to the hoop and sinks a clutch layup.Â

- 9 - Arianna Smith earned her 9th double double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds
