DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team returns home to host Fordham University Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. at UD Arena.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton holds an overall record of 14-12 on the year and 8-7 Atlantic 10 mark heading into the final stretch of the season. The Flyers are 10-5 at home, but looking to get back on the right track after suffering losses in four of the last five games.
Head coach
Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her third season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.
The Flyers are averaging 64.6 points per game and giving up 63.7 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 41.5 percent overall, 32.0 percent from three point range, and 69.7 percent from the free throw line. UD benefits from a +2.2 rebounding margin.
Leading the way for the Flyers are seniors
Ivy Wolf with 16.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game and
Arianna Smith with 12.0 points, 9.3 boards, and 10 double-doubles on the season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
FORDHAM
Fordham also holds a 14-12 record and 8-7 A-10 mark. The Rams and Flyers will battle for seventh place in the league standings with Fordham already having a victory over UD this season. FU is 5-6 away from home this year.
Head coach Bridgette Mitchell is in her second year at Fordham and fourth overall as head coach.
As a team, the Rams are scoring 59.8 points each outing and allowing 60.7 points to opposing squads. Fordham is averaging 37.6 percent from the field, 26.0 percent from behind the arc, and 64.9 percent from the charity stripe.
The Rams are led by Taylor Donaldson with 16.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while Irene Murua provides strength inside with 11.7 points and a team-high 6.3 rebounds each outing.
SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Rams are meeting for the 39th time in program history with Dayton holding a 27-11 series advantage. Fordham won the match-up earlier this season, 58-55, at home, and have now won three straight.
