Softball Comes From Behind To Best Akron In Colonel Classic Opener

Two Flyers Knock Out Homers in First Game of the Weekend

RICHMOND, Ky. - The University of Dayton softball team got back in the win column Friday night with a 7-4 victory over Akron in come-from-behind fashion at the EKU Colonel Classic. Sophomore Norah O'Donnell and freshman Juliana Gonzalez each knocked out their first career home run in the contest.

With the win, Dayton improves to 6-4 on the season while Akron moves to 9-7 overall.

KEY STATS
8 - junior Molly Grace collected a game-high eight putouts
7 - junior Izzy Kemp tallied seven pitching strikeouts over 5.1 innings of work
2 - O'Donnell was one of two Flyers with multi-hit games and she also drew the team's only walk of the contest
2 - Gonzalez recorded two RBI on her home run, one of two Flyers with multi-RBI games
Win: Kemp (3-1). Loss: Macy Walters (3-3). Save: Haven Dwyer (1).

UP NEXT
Dayton will kick off Saturday morning with a 10 a.m. matchup against UIC and the Flyers will have a rematch with the Zips at 12:30 p.m. All games of the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic are being played at Gertrude Hood Field.
