PITTSBURGH - The University of Dayton men's tennis team swept Saint Francis in quick fashion on Sunday at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center, turning aside the Red Flash 4-0 to wrap up a busy weekend.
UD pulled ahead thanks to a win in the doubles point. Junior
Sai Dore and freshman
Sturle Skigelstrand teamed up at No. 2 to win 6-4, while sophomores
Eric Suk and
Mikkel Zinder won 7-6 (5) at No. 1 to clinch the point.
Singles saw the Flyers get wins at No. 1, 5 and 6 to secure the neutral site win. Zinder continued his strong start to the spring campaign with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1, while the freshmen tandem of
Brady Hussey and
Andreas Nygaard won at No. 5 and No. 6 by scores of 6-3, 6-0 and 2-6, 6-3, 6-1, respectively.
UP NEXT
Dayton returns to action with a pair of matches on Friday, Feb. 14, first taking on Cedarville at the South Regency Tennis Center at 11:30 a.m. then traveling to take on Northern Kentucky on the road at 7 p.m.
