DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team started hot but could not contain the Saint Louis offense, falling 8-4 in the series opener against the Billikens at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

The FlyBoys jumped ahead early thanks to a solo home run from
Rylan Lujo in the first and a three-run blast from
Michael DiMartini in the second.

SLU chipped away with a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and another in the sixth to tie the score, then bested the Dayton bullpen with a pair of runs in the eighth and ninth innings.

Lujo and
Aiden Heberlie each had two hits and a run scored for UD, while DiMartini's seventh homer of the year drove in three.

Chris Peguero struck out seven in 5.2 innings of work, leaving the game with a no-decision.
