DAYTON - The University of Dayton baseball team wrapped its eight-game homestand with a commanding 6-4 victory over the Akron Zips on Tuesday at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

Michael DiMartini extended his hitting streak to 24 games while also launching his team-leading ninth home run of the campaign to lead the FlyBoys. Junior
Dyrenson Wouters turned in a 3-for-3 showing at the plate to bump his season average to .430.

The FlyBoys broke the scoring seal in the second frame when sophomore
Adin Zorn tagged up on a deep fly ball from junior Wouters to score the game's first run.

An inning later, DiMartini swiped second, advanced to third on the catcher's throwing error, and came home on a
Rylan Lujo sacrifice fly to put UD ahead 2-0.

After the Zips scored a run in the third, the Flyers struck again with an RBI double by Zorn and a run-scoring groundout from senior
Mason Dobie.

DiMartini's home run came in the fifth inning to put Dayton on top 6-2, and the Flyers would hold on as the Zips mounted a ninth-inning rally to win 6-4.
