DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team swept its doubleheader at Akron Wednesday, claiming a 1-0 shutout win in game one and followed that with a 9-7 victory in the nightcap.
Dayton improves to 24-16 on the season while Akron moves to 23-21 overall.
GAME ONE
Dayton 1, Akron 0
11 - junior 
Izzy Kemp recorded 11 strikeouts, her sixth double-digit K game of the season, and work five scoreless innings
2B - freshman 
Camrynn Linneman batted her first career double, knocking in the winning run, and also claimed the win in the circle

GAME TWO
Dayton 9, Akron 7
3 - sophomore 
Kirnan Bailey led three Flyers with multi-hit games while senior 
Maddie Kapsimalis collected three RBI in the game
HR - Kapsimalis knocked out her team-high-tying fifth home run of the season
SB - senior 
Emma Schutter recorded two stolen bases in the game, bringing her total to 23 for the year
W - senior 
Haven Dwyer recorded her 10th win of the year, marking her third-consecutive double-digit win season
Win - Dwyer (10-7). Loss - H. Croyle (0-2). Save - None.
UP NEXT
Dayton will close out the week with its final road Atlantic 10 series at Saint Joseph's May 3-4. The Flyers and Hawks will play two on Saturday and a single game Sunday, both starting at 12 p.m. at SJU Softball Field.
