TYSONS, Va. – The University of Dayton baseball team fell in its opening contest of the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship to No. 2 seed George Mason, 9-5, on Tuesday evening at Capital One Park.

The Flyers hit three home runs in the game to account for all five runs. Sophomore
Michael DiMartini led the way with a 2-for-4 showing at the plate, hitting his 14th home run of the season as well as a double. Junior
Dyrenson Wouters and sophomore
Ryan MacDougall both smacked two-run shots.

Dayton was caught playing catch-up from the beginning, as George Mason jumped ahead scoring four runs in the first inning.
Wouters and DiMartini hit their home runs in the fifth to make the game a one-score affair at 4-3 heading to the latter part of the contest. The Patriots struck back with three runs of their own in the home half of the seventh to make it a 7-3 game.
MacDougall deposited his ninth home run of the season to cut the lead back to two at 7-5, but George Mason once again pulled ahead with a pair of runs in the home half of the frame to bring the score to its final.
