Baseball's Season Comes To End At Hands Of Davidson

Adin Zorn Hit The #FlyBoys Record-Breaking 78th Home Run Of The Season

TYSONS, Va. – The University of Dayton baseball team fell to Davidson, 9-4, to end its run in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday night at Capital One Park.

The Flyers and Wildcats locked in a great one from the outset, as the teams traded blows early and played through six frames tied 4-4. Davidson busted out for five runs in the seventh, and its defense held steady through the rest of the contest, ending Dayton's season with a final record of 27-31.

Sophomore Adin Zorn got UD on the board with his ninth home run of the season, giving the Flyers a new program record for single-season home runs with 78. UD scored three more in the inning on a hit-by-pitch to sophomore Martin Howell, a walk drawn by junior Dyrenson Wouters, and a sacrifice fly from freshman Ty Mainolfi.

Dayton's pitching carved up the Davidson lineup, striking out a season-high 19 batters. Junior Jackson Judy set a new career-high with five punch outs, while sophomore Bennett LaPalm and freshman Lukasz Rondeau both fanned four. Freshman Ben Dean had his best outing of the season, striking out six and allowing just one baserunner in 2.2 innings of work.

Zorn finished the game with a 2-for-4 showing at the dish, while senior Mason Dobie, sophomore Ryan MacDougall, and redshirt sophomore Bobby Stang each had one hit.
