#UDMSOC Opening Conference Play At Home Against Saint Joseph's

Flyers and Hawks to Kickoff at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team is set to open Atlantic 10 Conference action Saturday against Saint Joseph's. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Baujan Field and admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton's (1-1-3, 0-0-0 A-10) come-from-behind effort at then-12th-ranked UNCG was cut short after the Spartans scored in the 89th minute to claim the 4-3 win over the Flyers. Six different players have scored a goal this season for the Flyers led by senior Ethan Sassine with three while freshman Mikkel Madsen has handed out two assists. Junior Miles Bonham is one of seven players that have started all five matches this season, extending his starting streak to 46 games - every match UD has played over the past three seasons.

SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
Saint Joseph's (2-1-1, 0-0-0 A-10) is coming off a 2-1 win over Rider at home on Tuesday. The Hawks were led by Glen Lala with four shots, including the game-winning goal in the 88th minute of the match. On the season, Matteo Mazzotta has scored two goals and five Hawks have tallied one assist. Cooper Jennings has worked all 360 minutes between the posts for SJU.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 16-2-3
In the last meeting between the Flyers and Hawks on Sept. 23, 2023, SJU claimed a 1-0 win over UD in the City of Brotherly Love. Dayton out-shot Saint Joseph's 13-5 led by former Flyer Hjalti Sigurdsson with four.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton traveled to Greensboro, N.C., last weekend to take on then-12th-ranked UNCG in its only match of the week. The Flyers fell behind 2-0 in the first halt but mounted a comeback bid during the second 45, pulling even with the Spartans in the 70th minute. UNCG thwarted UD's effort, netting the game winner in the 89th minute, extending its home unbeaten streak to 14 games.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's final 2024 Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on Dec. 16, Dayton ranked 11th according to NCAA.com. Saint Joseph's came in at 186.

• Dennis Currier is in his 21st season as head coach of the Flyers in 2025. His record at Dayton is 195-124-64 (.593) and his career win-loss mark sits at 383-173-76 (.667) over a total of 33 seasons. Currier has tallied the program's most wins (195) and most winning seasons (13).
• Following the first week of the season, three Flyers were recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference. Ethan Sassine was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Gavin Krenecki garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades and Mikkel Madsen secured the Rookie of the Week honor on Aug. 25.
• Five Flyers were named to the 2025 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team: Andrew Armstrong, Martin Bakken, Miles Bonham, Ethan Sassine and Paul Yeboah.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title four times (1998, 2000, 2009, 2020). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title six times (1997, 1998, 2008, 2015, 2023, 2024) resulting in six appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Over 23 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 23-11-5 record in the conference postseason championship, reaching the title match nine times.
• The Flyers finished the 2024 season with a 14-3-3 overall record and a 5-1-2 conference mark, finishing in second place in regular-season play.
