Family Weekend At Welcome Stadium As Football Hosts Stetson

The Flyers And Hatters Kickoff At 12 p.m.

DAYTON - The University of Dayton football team will return home and open Pioneer Football League play Saturday, Sept. 27 at 12 p.m. at Welcome Stadium against Stetson University. It will be Family Weekend at UD so fans are asked to plan accordingly. 

SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and Stetson are meeting for the seventh time in program history with the Flyers holding a 5-1 series advantage. The last match-up took place on Oct. 22, 2022, with UD holding off Stetson at home, 23-20.

LAST OUTING
• Dayton rallied to earn a 17-14 road win at Robert Morris last weekend, winning it on a fourth-quarter field goal by PFL Special Teams Player of the Week Robby Smart. 
• Stetson suffered a 59-7 loss at home to Harvard for its Family Weekend last Saturday. The Hatters were outscored 45-0 in the first half alone.

LEADING THE WAY
• The Flyers currently lead the PFL in numerous categories across all three phases of the game including blocked punts allowed, fumbles lost, passes had intercepted, passing yards allowed, scoring defense, and team passing efficiency defense, and turnovers lost. 
• Dayton also ranks top five nationally in blocked punts allowed, kickoff return defense, passing yards allowed, team passing efficiency defense, and turnovers lost. 

MAKING THEIR MARK
• Dayton has multiple student-athletes ranking in the top three individually among PFL players: 
• Gavin Lochow - Ranks first in receiving touchdowns (eighth nationally), second in receiving yards per game (35th nationally), third in receptions per game (28th nationally), second in scoring (32nd nationally), and third in total touchdowns (34th nationally). 
• Bryce Schondelmyer - Ranks second in completions per game (54th nationally) and third in passing yards per game (47th nationally).
• Bennett Lawrence, Luke Mitchell, Josh Williams - Ranks third in fumbles recovered (19th nationally).
• Robby Smart - Ranks third in field goal percentage. 

SMART'S GAME-WINNER EARNS HIM PFL ACCOLADES
• Redshirt junior Robby hit the game-winning, 21-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to power the Flyers to a 17-14 comeback victory at Robert Morris on Sept. 20, earning PFL Special Teams Player of the Week.
