DAYTON – Dayton's conference schedule continues with a mid-week match against the Duquesne Dukes on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
First serve is set for 5 p.m. and will take place at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in downtown Pittsburgh.
DAVIDSON SERIES RECAP
The Flyers started the 2025's conference schedule with a road series against Davidson, going 2-0 over the Wildcats. In the first match of the weekend, UD and Davidson traded sets, pushing the match to five sets before claiming a win. Saturday's matinee went very different, with the Flyers getting it done in three sets.
Kamryn Hunt led Dayton with 30 kills and a 3.75 kills per set average. Liana Sarkissian dominated for the Flyers in blocking with one solo and 10 block assists. At libero, Karissa Kaminski recorded a team-most 38 digs and tallied four service aces to lead the Flyers.
ON A ROLL
With a pair of wins against Davidson, the Flyers have now earned 40-straight regular season, conference wins. Dayton's last regular season loss against an Atlantic 10 opponent was a four-set loss at home against Loyola Chicago on Nov. 5, 2022.
ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED
During the Flyer Invitational, Liana Sarkissian crossed 500 career kills in a four-set win over UCSB. The senior is currently second on the team in kills with 85 and is averaging 2.24 kills per set.
Additionally, Sarkissian is third in the Atlantic 10 in hitting percentage with .360. Her hitting percentage is also No. 98 in the country.
DIGGING IT
Karissa Kaminski has 1,458 career digs, inching closer to the 1,500 mark. She also moved into fifth in program history in career digs, previously held by Cindy Moffitt with 1,446 digs.
The senior libero leads the conference in digs per set (4.36) and is second in total digs with 205.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Duquesne is currently 9-4 overall, wrapping up their non-conference slate by splitting with Buffalo and Saint Francis on Sept. 19 and 20. During the opening weekend of Atlantic 10 play, the Dukes went 1-1 against VCU, falling to the Rams in four Friday night before defeating them in five on Saturday afternoon.
2023 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, Chloe Wilmot, leads the country in total assists with 576. The junior setter is also first in the league in assists per set (11.29). Sophomore Emersen Schrom has 11.59 attacks per set, 4.63 kills per set, 5.30 points per set, 591 total attacks, 236 total kills and 270.5 points to lead the Dukes and the Atlantic 10. Jordan Robertson, who leads Duquesne with 54 blocks, was the A10 Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22.
LAST MEETING
Dayton has a 57-4 record against Duquesne dating back to 1990 and has won the last 21 matches. Of the last 21 wins, 12 of them have been on the road for the Flyers.
The last meeting was a three-set, home win for the Flyers on Oct. 29, 2024. Then ranked No. 19, Dayton record eight service aces and tallied 59 points to Duquesne's 32. Lexie Almodovar set a new season-high for kills in a three-set match with 22.
UP NEXT
Dayton will spend the next two weekends in the friendly confines of the Frericks Center, hosting Fordham on Oct. 3-4 and Saint Louis on Oct. 10-11.
