Dayton Picked To Finish Third In Poll Of Coaches & Media

WASHINGTON, D.C. – University of Dayton senior guard Javon Bennett, sophomore forward Amaël L'Etang, and graduate forward Keonte Jones have been selected to receive Preseason Atlantic 10 honors, according to a poll of the conference's head men's basketball coaches and selected media.

Bennett was named to the A-10 Preseason First Team as well as the All-Defensive Team, L'Etang earned a spot on the Second Team, and Jones was tabbed Third Team.

In the same announcement, the Flyers were selected third in the conference's preseason poll. This news came at the A-10's Media Day held at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa., site of the 2026 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship.

The Flyers collected 321 points and three first-place votes, trailing only VCU (342/11) and Saint Louis (341/11). George Washington was fourth (296), followed by Loyola Chicago (286/2) in fifth. The rest of the top 10 were George Mason (254), Saint Joseph's (195), St. Bonaventure (185), Duquesne (155) and Richmond (142).

Davidson, Rhode Island, La Salle and Fordham round out the preseason poll.

Bennett headlines Dayton's preseason recognition as a member of both the Preseason All-Conference First Team and the Preseason All-Defensive Team. The Orlando, Fla., native averaged 11.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists last season while also registering 1.5 steals per game. Bennett finished the season scoring double-digits in five straight games, including a career-best 30 points in the Flyers' opening round win over FAU in the NIT.

L'Etang earned a spot on the Preseason All-Conference Second Team after a strong rookie year in which he averaged 7.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists. The Frenchman scored double-digit points in 14 games, including a career-best 16 at Duquesne.

Jones, one of the Flyers' dynamic transfers, was named to the Preseason All-Conference Third Team. The Madison, Wis. native posted 13.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per contest last season at CSUN.

Fans' first chance to see the 2025-26 Flyers in action is Sunday, Oct. 19 when Dayton welcomes Penn State to UD Arena for the CareSource Charity Exhibition Game.
