DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team will play a pair of matches this weekend to begin the 2026 season.

Dayton will head to Louisville, Ky. to take on the Cardinals on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. On Monday, Jan. 19, the Flyers will play host to Eastern Kentucky at South Regency Tennis Center at 10 a.m.

The Flyers ended the fall at Toledo's Rocket Invitational with Mallory Hitchcock leading the team with two singles wins. In doubles, Montserrat Sierra and Natalie Osiecki won two matches as well.

Dayton played Louisville last season, picking up two singles wins for a 5-2 loss. Laura Greb won in the three spot, and Hailey Klein won at No. 6.

The Cardinals finished the 2025 season 13-10, falling to Cal in the second round of the ACC Championship last spring. Doubles pair Alice Otis and Lika Persypkina went 2-1 at the ITA South Sectional back in November.

Against Eastern Kentucky, UD has won the last two meetings, most recently defeating the Colonels 4-3 in Richmond, Ky. in 2024. After winning the doubles point, Flyers Marra Bruce, Elizabeth Hamilton and Erica Wojcikiewicz picked up singles wins to earn the match victory.

Eastern Kentucky is 0-1 after falling 5-0 to East Tennessee State on Tuesday. The Colonels will play Marshall and Kentucky before facing the Flyers on Monday. Last season, EKU finished the season with a 9-19 record.

The Flyers will go to Toledo, Ohio to face the Rockets on Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
