Women's Basketball Travels To Fordham Saturday

The Flyers And Rams Tip-Off At 2 p.m. In The Bronx

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team travels to New York City to take on Fordham University Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Gym.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is looking to find some consistency in Atlantic 10 play, but sits at 1-3 in league games and 8-7 overall this season. The Flyers are 2-4 in true road games this year, but has yet to lose back-to-back games in 2025-26.

Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her fourth season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State. 

The Flyers are averaging 65.7 points per game and giving up 67.1 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 44.0 percent overall, 31.4 percent from three point range, and 66.2 percent from the free throw line. UD is outrebounding teams by +4.1, but committing 4.4 more turnovers. 

Leading the way for the Flyers is senior Nayo Lear with 15.7 points per game while graduate student Nicole Stephens runs the point and chips in 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists each outing.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
FORDHAM

Fordham is also looking to find some traction on its season, going 8-7 overall and 0-4 in A-10 games. The Rams are currently on a three-game losing skid, but 6-3 at home this year. Saturday's game kicks-off a three-of-four game stretch at Rose Hill Gym. 

Head coach Bridgette Mitchell is in her third season at Fordham and has the fourth most wins in program history through two seasons. 

As a team, the Rams are scoring 67.2 points per outing and holding opposing squads to 64.8 points each contest. Fordham is averaging 38.1 percent from the floor, 28.4 percent from behind the arc, and 69.0 percent from the charity stripe. The Rams lead the A-10 and rank 38th in bench points as well. 

Leading-scorer Alexis Black was out last game, but is averaging 19.4 points per game and ranks fifth in the nation in free throws. Ugne Sirtautaite and Ornella Niankan are contributing 8.7 points and 8.1 points respectively. 

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton rallied from an 18-point deficit, but came up short in a 71-68 home loss to Loyola Chicago Wednesday. The Flyers unfortunately had a season-high 30 turnovers that proved to be the difference in the contest.

Fordham suffered an 84-65 loss to Richmond Wednesday, despite leading 16-14 after the first quarter. The Rams gave up 30 points in the third quarter alone, and were without leading scorer Alexis Black.

SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and Fordham are meeting for the 40th time in program history. The Flyers lead the series, 28-11, and are coming off a win in the last showdown on Feb. 22, 2025, 62-57. The Rams have won the last two games in the Bronx however.

Dayton returns home to host the University of Richmond next Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. at UD Arena.
