DAYTON – The University of Dayton football team faced Morehead State University in a neck-and-neck contest, coming out on top 56-28.

With this win, the Flyers are now 4-1 overall, and 1-1 in Patriot Football League conference play. Morehead State is now 1-5 overall, and 0-2 in conference play.Â

GAME RECAP
1st Quarter – Dayton 14, Morehead St. 7
- The Flyers won the toss and deferred to the second half, Dayton defends the south goal.  Â
- Dayton opened up scoring when senior quarterback Bryce Schondelmyer connected with senior running back Luke Hansen for a four-yard touchdown pass. Graduate David Maurer's extra point gave the Flyers a 7-0 lead.Â
- Morehead State answered with a one-yard touchdown, and the extra point for MSU tied the game at 7-7.Â
- Moments later, Schondelmyer found an opening for a 21-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Gavin Lochow. The extra point put the score at 14-7 in favor of the Flyers.Â

2nd Quarter – Dayton 21, Morehead St. 21
- Morehead came into the second quarter looking to catch back up to the Flyers. With a touchdown and successful kick attempt with 10:09 on the clock, the Eagles tied the game at 14-14.Â
- The Flyers responded at 11:03 with a 32-yard pass from Schondelmyer, complete to Lochow for a touchdown to bring the Flyers to 20 points over the Eagles 14. The extra point puts the score at 21-14.Â
- With only 00:23 remaining in the second quarter, MSU scored a 1-yard touchdown followed by a good kick attempt to tie the game yet again, 21-21.Â

3rd Quarter – Dayton 35, Morehead St. 28
- Lochow with a 10-yard rush up the middle, put another touchdown on the board for the Flyers. Maurer's extra point was good, bringing the Flyers back into the lead at 28-21.Â
- The Eagles completed a 20-yard touchdown pass with 04:34 on the clock, bringing the game to a 28-28 tie after a successful extra point attempt from MSU.
- Schondelmyer completed a 4-yard pass to senior wide receiver Michael Mussari with only 39 seconds of play remaining in the third quarter. The Flyers touchdown and extra point break the tie, bringing the Flyers into the lead once again, 35-28.Â

4th Quarter – Dayton 56, Morehead St. 28
- The Flyers opened up the fourth quarter with a 4th down stop at the 13:18 mark, as Morehead State went for it at midfield.Â
- In 7 plays, the Flyers only had to move 50-yards for senior running back Mason Hackett to rush up the middle for a touchdown, putting the Flyers at 42 points with 09:35 left on the clock. Morehead State stands at 28 points.Â
- A 55-yard punt return by junior wide receiver Paul Kelly resulted in another touchdown for the Flyers. The Flyers are up 49-28, making it their highest scoring game of the season.Â
- Morehead State had one last chance but turned the ball over on the down.
- Junior running back Dillon Fitzpatrick rushed 19-yards to find an opening for a last minute touchdown to put the Flyers at 56 points over the Eagles 28.Â
