DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team and George Washington tied 1-1 on Sunday afternoon on the Flyers' Senior Day at Baujan Field.
UD (5-6-3, 2-1-3 A10) held firm control of the match but could not break through after GW (4-5-5, 1-2-3 A10) tied the match in the first half.
Dayton opened the scoring on a highlight reel goal, as freshman
Reese Gallagher found the feet of junior
Liv Grenda, who then beat multiple defenders and set fellow junior
Laney Smith for a wide-open goal in the 16th minute.
GW evened the scoring with a goal in the 39th minute, and despite a handful of chances on both sides in the second half, neither team found the back of the net again.
Dayton dominated multiple categories, including total shots (24-5), shots on goal (13-1) and corner kicks (8-3), but the Revolutionaries keeper was up to the task.
