DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball team was unable to complete the upset in Wednesday's home game against George Mason University.
The Flyers (13-12, 6-8 A-10) fell to the Patriots (16-7, 11-1 A-10) in front of a record crowd of 12,598 fans at UD Arena.
GAME RECAP
1st Quarter – Dayton 18, George Mason 14
- Sophomore Olivia Leung hit a jumper for the Flyers' first bucket of the game at 9:19.
- Junior Ajok Madol drove to the rim and made a layup to make the score Dayton 4, George Mason 2.
- Graduate student Nicole Stephens made a mid-range jump shot with 7:11
- Madol kept scoring momentum going with another to make the score Flyers 8, Patriots 5.
- Leung met the rim for another two points at the 5:57 mark, then scored again 30 seconds later off of a fast break.
- Stephens hit a three from the top of the key to make the score Dayton 15, George Mason 7.
- Sophomore Molly O'Riordan contributed to the Dayton lead with a three pointer with 4:04 on the clock.
2nd Quarter – Dayton 27, George Mason 35
- Following a seven-minute scoring hiatus between the two quarters, Stephens made a jump shot to reclaim the lead, Dayton 20, George Mason 19 with 6:44 to go in the half.
- Senior Nayo Lear capitalized off of the turnover and drove to the rim to score her first bucket of the game at 5:02.
- Stephens drained a three pointer with 1:11 remaining in the half.
- O'Riordan went two for two from the free throw line to make the score Dayton 27, George Mason 35.
3rd Quarter – Dayton 47, George Mason 61
- Madol made a layup under defensive pressure to kick off the second half.
- Lear met the rim for a made layup at the 8:34 mark to make the score Dayton 31, George Mason 35.
- A minute and a half later, Lear drained a pull-up jumper for her sixth point of the contest.
- Stephens created space and made a mid-range jump shot with 5:54 remaining in the third quarter.
- Junior Jayda Johnson came off the bench and made back-to-back three pointers in less than a minute to decrease the deficit to ten points.
- O'Riordan went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe for her second appearance of the game.
- Stephens made a layup at 1:50 for her 14th point of the game.
- While the Flyers trailed consistently, Leung made a layup to make the score Dayton 47, George Mason 57.
4th Quarter – Dayton 61, George Mason 72
- Junior Fatima Ibrahim put in a second-chance layup at the 8:42 mark for her first bucket of the game.
- Leung relieved the Flyers of the scoring drought with a made layup with 3:02 on the clock.
- Madol followed suit and scored off of a fast break at 2:26 to make the score Dayton 54, George Mason 68.
- Stephens was next to finish at the rim just 30 seconds after.
- Nayo Lear for two layups making the score 72-61.

Nicole Stephens finished with a team-high 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting.

Ajok Madol added nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
48% - Dayton outshot Mason 48 percent compared to 38.7 percent for the visitors.
