DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team is set to play Marquette and Xavier this weekend.

Friday's home game against Marquette will begin at 10 a.m. at the South Regency Tennis Center. The match against Xavier on Saturday will be on the road at the Camargo Racquet Club, beginning at 5 p.m.

Dayton played just one match last weekend, downing St. Bonaventure 5-2 on Senior Day. No. 1 and 2 doubles of Natalie Osiecki and Montserrat Sierra and Mallory Hitchcock and Baby Jordan clinched the doubles point for the Flyers. Jordan, Hitchcock, Christian Chin and Haley Klein earned wins in singles to defeat the Bonnies.

Marquette is 3-7 this season, defeating SIUE 4-3 last weekend. Back on January 26, Elise Barnstedt was named Big East Singles Player of the Week. She and Emma Davis were also awarded Big East Doubles Player of the Week. Elena Duva leads the Golden Eagles with a 7-3 singles record. Barnstedt and Davis lead the team in doubles play with five wins.

The Flyers have only played Marquette once, falling to the Golden Eagles 4-2 last February. Neena Katauskas and Haley Klein won singles matches for Dayton.

Xavier is 3-5 this season and will play Purdue on Feb. 27 before hosting the Flyers. In their last outing, the Musketeers fell to Michigan, 7-0. On Feb. 9, Abby Nugent and Clara Owen earned Big East Doubles Team of the Week. Madeline Rexroat was named Big East Singles Player of the Week on Feb. 23.

Dayton has played Xavier 20 times but has yet to pick up a win, falling 7-0 last spring.

The Flyers will host Cleveland State on March 6, before heading to Northern Kentucky on March 8.
