Women's Basketball Heads To Philadelphia To Face La Salle

The Flyers And Explorers Tip-Off At 6:30 p.m. In A-10 Action

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team tips-off a two-game stretch in Philadelphia as the Flyers take on the La Salle Explorers Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at John E. Glaser Arena. 

SCOUTING THE FLYERS 
Dayton sits at 11-11 on the year and 4-7 in Atlantic 10 play, looking to improve on its position in a crowded middle of the conference standings.  The Flyers are 4-5 in true road games this season. 

Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her fourth season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State. 

The Flyers are averaging 65.8 points per game and giving up 67.5 points to opposing teams. Dayton is shooting 42.9 percent overall, 29.9 percent from three point range, and 66.2 percent from the free throw line. UD benefits from a +5.1 rebounding margin as well. 

Leading the way for Dayton is senior Nayo Lear with 15.0 points per game and graduate student Nicole Stephens with 10.2 points and 3.6 assists each contest. Sophomore Olivia Leung has come on strong as of late with four straight double-digit scoring efforts. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
LA SALLE

La Salle returns home to host UD with a 12-10 mark overall and 5-6 A-10 record, putting the Explorers one game ahead of the Flyers in the league standings. La Salle is 5-5 at home this year. 

Head coach Mountain MacGillivray is in his eighth season with the Explorers. 

As a team, La Salle is scoring 65.0 points each outing and holding opposing squads to just 64.5 points each contest. The Explorers are averaging 39.3 percent from the floor, 29.4 percent from three, and 70.8 percent from the charity stripe. 

La Salle is led by A-10 All-Conference performer Ashleigh Connor with 15.6 points per game while Aryss Macktoon and Joan Quinn are chipping in 15.5 points and 11.1 points each outing respectively. 

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton suffered its second loss of the season to George Washington Sunday, 66-54. The Revs completed the series sweep after outscoring the Flyers 27-11 in the fourth. 

La Salle earned a big 77-61 road win at Duquesne Saturday to finish up the month of January on a positive note. Ashleigh Connor had a team-high 26 points and was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.  

SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and La Salle are meeting for the 47th time in program history with the Flyers holding a commanding 30-16 series advantage. UD has won 11 matchups in a row including last year's A-10 Tournament contest, a 60-45 victory in Henrico for the Flyers.
