LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Dayton softball team split its last two games at Kentucky's John Cropp Classic Sunday, it's last pre-conference weekend event before playing host to Loyola Chicago next weekend. Dayton was narrowly edged by Michigan State, 2-1, before besting Murray State, 7-2, in its weekend finale.
Dayton is now 8-5 on the season while Michigan State moved to 10-9 overall and Murray State is 8-10.
GAME ONE
Michigan State 2, Dayton 1

Kate Kastelic recorded a season-high four strikeouts in the circle
Win - Carsyn Cassady (2-4). Loss - Kastelic (2-2). Save - None.
GAME TWO
Dayton 7, Murray State 2

Izzy Kemp tallied 12 strikeouts on the day, her fourth double-digit strikeout appearance of the season

Maura Carmody scored two runs in the game, her third multi-run game of the year
Win - Kemp (4-1). Loss - Bre Haislip (3-2). Save - None.
UP NEXT
Dayton will open the Atlantic 10 portion of its 2026 schedule this weekend with a three-game series against Loyola Chicago. The Flyers will host the Ramblers for a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. followed by a single game Sunday, also at 12 p.m. All home games are played at UD Softball Stadium and admission is free.
