PITTSBURGH - The University of Dayton softball team dropped two games at Pitt Saturday in a non-conference doubleheader in the Steel City. The Flyers forced extra innings in game one before the Panthers claimed a 4-3 win in eight. Pitt took the nightcap by an 8-3 margin.
Dayton moves to an even 21-21 on the season while Pitt is now 24-24 overall.
GAME ONE
Pitt 4, Dayton 3 (8 inn.)
4 - sophomore pitcher
Camrynn Linneman recorded four strikeouts, her fifth game this season with four Ks or more
2 - freshman
Izzy Calinski recorded her fifth multi-hit game of the season, after recording a home run and a double, and scored two runs
Win: Allie Lukaszewicz (2-1). Loss:
Kate Kastelic (3-5). Save: None.
GAME TWO
Pitt 8, Dayton 3
2 - senior
Molly Grace went 2-for-4 at the plate, including her seventh double of the season, her ninth multi-hit game of the season
26 - after reaching base on a fielding error by the second baseman, junior
Kirnan Bailey extended her reached-base streak to 26 games
Win: Mia Kliethermes (5-1). Loss:
Izzy Kemp (14-7). Save: None.
UP NEXT
Dayton will continue its five-game non-conference stint next week with two games at home Tuesday and Wednesday. The Flyers will host the RedHawks of Miami (Ohio) April 28 at 4 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. matchup against Akron on April 29. Both games will be played at UD Softball Stadium and admission is free.
