DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team opened its series with Fordham with a 5-3 win on Friday morning.
Neither team scored until the third inning, when Aiden Heberlie scored on a sacrifice bunt by Danny MacDougall.
Fordham took a 2-1 lead with a two-RBI single in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the inning, Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Colin Lynch hit a home run into left field to tie the game back up.
Freshman Grayson Carpenter homered to left center in the fifth frame, putting Dayton ahead 4-2.
In the sixth, Dyrenson Wouters bunted, adding an insurance run for the FlyBoys.
The Rams tallied a run in the ninth, but Dayton maintained its lead for the win.
