KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Dayton softball team split a doubleheader at Rhode Island Friday in Atlantic 10 Conference action. Dayton claimed a 5-1 win in game one before falling to Rhode Island, 6-3, in the nightcap.
Dayton is now 16-14 on the season and 7-7 in A-10 games while Rhode Island moves to 9-16 overall and 4-7 in league contests.Â
GAME ONE
Dayton 5, Rhode Island 1

Izzy Kemp tallied 15 strikeouts, her 10th double-digit outing of the season
HR - sophomore
Camrynn Linneman knocked out her team-best sixth home run of the season, a grand slam in the second inning
2B - junior
Deirdre Flaherty was one of two Flyers to record a double (Linneman), her team-high sixth double of the year

Rhode Island 6, Dayton 3
10 - as a team, the Flyers combined for 10 hits with eight different players connecting on the day

Kirnan Bailey stole two bases in the game bringing her total to 28 on the season
Win: Ashley Hibbard (2-2). Loss: Linneman (3-3). Save: Brooke Gerry (1).
UP NEXT
Dayton and Rhode Island will close out their three-game set in Kingston on Saturday. First pitch between the Flyers and Rams is scheduled for 12 p.m. at URI Softball Complex and admission is free.
