TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team defeated Toledo for the second time this season, beating the Rockets 9-5 on Wednesday.
Toledo scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening inning.
The FlyBoys' offense came alive in the fourth, scoring all nine runs. Dyrenson Wouters hit a three-run home run to left field to take the lead, followed by a single shot from Jason Bello. With runners on second and third, Michael Smith Jr. tripled to center field, allowing two runs to score. After Smith Jr. scored on a wild pitch, Bobby Stang hit a two-run bomb to left center, taking a 9-1 lead.
The Rockets responded with four runs in the following side, but both teams remained scoreless the rest of the way.
Lucas Collins got credit for the win for Dayton.
