DAYTON – University of Dayton women's tennis coach Erica Echko has announced three roster additions for the upcoming season.
Incoming freshmen are Bianca Gherghe and Claire Rueff. Naima Luthra is joining the Flyers from Saint Louis.
"We are thrilled to welcome Claire, Bianca, and Naima to our team. They are three very accomplished players who will improve our team," said Echko. "This group brings in a lot of energy and will help raise our level of competitiveness."
Gherghe is from Morton Grove, Ill. and attended Acellus Academy for three years. The four-star recruit won three sportsmanship awards in her high school career. She has also won 32 United States Tennis Association tournaments in singles and doubles. Babolat has her ranked fourth in the state of Illinois.
"Bianca has had a lot of success in junior tournaments and has a UTR of 8.3. Bianca has a great work ethic and will make an immediate impact in our singles and doubles lineup," said Echko.
Rueff, a native of Indian Hills, Ky., helped her team at Sacred Heart Academy win two state championships. She was named to the All-State team for all four years of her high school career. Rueff also achieved state finals in both singles and doubles, winning the doubles title in 2026.
"Claire is a three-star recruit who comes from a very successful tennis family in Louisville. She has proven success in tournaments and especially in high school competition," explained Echko. "Claire is a great team player who will help increase our competitive spirit and energy."
Luthra is a sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, who spent her freshman year at Atlantic 10 foe Saint Louis. With the Billikens, she earned five singles wins and four doubles wins and earned Saint Louis's Freshman of the Year award. In high school, she was awarded team MVP in 2022, 2024 and 2025, going 12-0 in singles in her final year of high school.
"From her experience last semester, Naima knows what it takes to be successful in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Last year when we faced the Billikens, she won in singles and doubles," said Echko. "Naima has been working hard and competing in tournaments this summer in Australia, so she will be ready to help improve our team this fall."
Returners Caroline Boyle, Christian Chin, Mallory Hitchcock, Baby Jordan, Haley Klein and Montserrat Sierra round out the 2026-27 roster.
