WASHINGTON - University of Dayton men's soccer sophomore
Pablo Martinez has been named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.Â
Loyola Chicago's Max Ionita earned Defensive Player of the Week honors while Saint Joseph's Alex Smith was named Rookie of the Week. The awards are for games played from September 7-13.
Martinez recorded the brace and also dished out one assist for a career-high five points in Dayton's 3-2 win over visiting Butler Saturday night. He recorded both of UD's goals in the match and assisted on the game winner in the 87th minute. The sophomore from Seville, Spain, leads the team with three assists and is second with two goals.
UP NEXT
Dayton returns to action next Saturday as it kicks off Atlantic 10 Conference play at home against Saint Louis, the Flyers' sixth-consecutive home match. The Billikens were chosen to finish first in A10 play this season, just ahead of Dayton, in the preseason poll. UD and SLU will get underway just after 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Baujan Field and admission is free.
