DAYTON – The University of Dayton volleyball team is back on the road this season as the Flyers head a little north to Bowling Green and Toledo, Ohio, for the Bowling Green/Toledo Invitational Sept. 18-19 at Stroh Center and Savage Arena. Dayton will compete against Missouri, Bowling Green, and Toledo in all three matches.Â
Friday's matchup against Missouri will be live on YouTube, while Friday night and Saturday's matches will be live-streamed on ESPN+.Â
ABOUT THE FLYERSÂ
The Dayton Flyers successfully rebounded with a 2-1 overall record at the South Florida Invitational. The Flyers established rhythm early with the Bulls, falling to the No. 13 TCU Horned Frogs in four sets before taking down Florida Atlantic in five sets. This momentum is preparing the Flyers as they head into Atlantic 10 conference play.Â
Driving the attack,
Sidney Sprada leads the team with 123 kills, while
Charlotte Vinson holds 27.0 total blocks at the net. Alongside these two,
Natalie Harrington helped keep opposing defense out of system with 11 aces.Â
ABOUT MISSOURIÂ
The Flyers' opening opponent of the invitational, Missouri, enters Friday with a 6-2 record, including their last win over Florida Gulf Coast.Â
Missouri got the season underway with a 3-0 win over Western Illinois and have kept the momentum going with an undefeated run at the Mizzou Tournament. The Tigers recently were in Louisville, Kentucky, where they were matched up against strong competition.Â
Grace O'Reilly reached a career-high of 13 kills, and Paige Felder secured her first double-double of the season last weekend.Â
The Flyers and Tigers last met in 2019, with Missouri ultimately coming away with a four-set win.Â
ABOUT BOWLING GREEN
Bowling Green enters the week following a 2-1 showing at the Xavier Invitational, moving their season record to 7-2.Â
The Falcons are led offensively by Amanda Otten, who directs the attack with 303 assists on the season, while Karli Molnau, Cecily Waynar and Helen Wilford add another layer of power to Bowling Green's offense.Â
The last meeting between Dayton and Bowling Green resulted in a 3-0 Flyers victory in 2024.Â
ABOUT TOLEDO
Toledo enters the weekend with a 7-1 record and is coming off a three-match win streak at the West Virginia Invitational, defeating Lehigh, VCU and West Virginia.Â
Toledo named Grace Freiberger the 2025-26 female Student-Athlete of the Year at the Rocket Awards last spring and leads the program with 105 digs. The Rockets are led by Ava Siefke with 84 kills and Maddy Bach with 163 assists.Â
The last time Dayton and Toledo faced off was in 2016, when the Flyers swept the Rockets.Â
