Men's Soccer Opening A10 Play At Home Against Saint Louis

Saturday is Youth Night!

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will open the Atlantic 10 portion of its 2026 schedule when it welcomes Saint Louis to town on Saturday night. The Flyers and Billikens will get underway just after 7 p.m. at Baujan Field Sept. 19 and admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (4-1-1, 0-0-0 A10), after dropping its first match of the season to No. 12 Akron, has put together a five-match unbeaten streak heading into conference play. Senior Cooper Lijewski leads the team with three assists and sophomore Pablo Martinez has dished out three assists as both have tallied seven points on offense for the Flyers. In goal, sophomore Santino Inkpen (4-0-1) has worked 450 minutes between the posts and carries a 1.20 GAA with 4.40 saves/game (33rd NCAA). 

SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
Saint Louis (2-3-1, 0-0-0 A10) enters the match suffering a two-game losing skid and most recently squared off against No. 14 Akron in St. Louis. The Zips netted the game-winner in the 85th minute to best the Billikens, 2-1. SLU has five different players who have scored a goal, including Andrew Heckenlaible who leads the team with two goals, two assists and six points. Lucas McPartlin (1-2-1) has worked a total of 360 minutes in goal with a 1.00 GAA and seven saves.

SERIES STUFF
Saint Louis Leads, 20-9-7
The Flyers and Billikens last squared off on Nov. 16, 2025 in the championship match of the 2025 Atlantic 10 Tournament. With the score knotted at 1-1 after 110 minutes, SLU claimed the title with a 5-4 win in penalty kicks to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton picked up its fourth win of the season last Saturday after getting past visiting Butler, 3-2, on the strength of senior Cooper Lijewski's game-winner in the 87th minute. Sophomore Pablo Martinez netted a career-high two goals for the brace to go with his team-best third assist of the season for a career-high five points. Four different Flyers tallied an assist in the match, including sophomore Uri Koffi's first career helper

• Dennis Currier is in his 22nd season as head coach of the Flyers in 2026. His record at Dayton is 206-126-70 (.600) and his career win-loss mark sits at 394-175-82 (.668) over a total of 33 seasons. Currier has tallied the program's most wins (206) and most winning seasons (14).
• Three Flyers were named to the 2026 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team: Miles Bonham, Mikkel Madsen and Braden Seel. Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll behind 2025 champion Saint Louis.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title four times (1998, 2000, 2009, 2020). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title six times (1997, 1998, 2008, 2015, 2023, 2024) resulting in six appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Over 24 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 25-11-6 record in the conference postseason championship, reaching the title match 10 times (including 2025).
• The Flyers finished the 2025 season with an 8-2-8 overall record and a 4-1-3 conference mark, finishing in third place in regular-season Atlantic 10 play. Dayton advanced to the program's third-consecutive appearance in the A10 Tournament finals match, falling to Saint Louis 1-1 (5-4 PKs).

UP NEXT
Dayton is set to play host to Northern Kentucky Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup at Baujan Field. The Flyers and Norse will get underway just after 7 p.m. Sept. 22 and admission is free. Tuesday night is a WHITE OUT and all fans are encouraged to wear white.
