TULSA, Okla. – The University of Dayton men's tennis team reached new heights at the ITA All-American Championships this week, advancing to the main draw stage in both singles and doubles.
Senior Kyle McNally is the first Dayton player to advance to the main draw stage after going 5-1 in singles play.
He and junior Sturle Skigelstrand were the first pair from Dayton to be selected for the prequalifying draw, advancing through the qualifying draw to make the main competition. The duo went 4-1 on the week.
Senior Mikkel Zinder fell in three close sets to his opponent from Nebraska in his first match but beat a player from Wake Forest in the consolation stage.
"This was a historic tournament for our program," head coach Ryan Meyer explained. "Any match you win in Tulsa can directly impact the rest of the season. For us to go 6-2 in singles and 4-1 in doubles against some of the best competition was amazing. I'm so proud of Kyle, Mikkel and Sturle."
