Adam Cornwell joined the University of Dayton baseball staff in August 2019 following a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Iona, where he served as the pitching coach for the Gaels. Iona's pitching staff set a program record for strikeouts in a season and Cornwell also helped mentor pitchers Stephen Hansen and Hunter Sibley to All-MAAC accolades during his lone season in New Rochelle.
As a player, Cornwell played three seasons at the University of Indianapolis, where he helped lead the Greyhounds to a pair of NCAA DII Tournament appearances, before moving on to the University of Pittsburgh as a graduate transfer. He also played professionally for the Traverse City Beach Bums in the Frontier League during the 2018 season.
Cornwell graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a degree in sport management in 2016 and also earned a master's degree in athletic coaching from Ball State in 2019.
