Experience: Third Season at Dayton
Alma Mater: Defiance College '06
Jim Roberson stepped into the role of Flyer pitching coach last season after serving on the UD staff as the administrative and operations assistant for two seasons.
In 2013, the Dayton pitching staff saw the emergence of three talented young starters that return this season in Joe Wahl, Charlie Dant, and Noah Buettgen, who led the team in strikeouts and innings pitched. Closer Nick Weybright also broke into the single-season and career leader boards at Dayton with four saves.
Roberson’s prior coaching stops include two seasons as the pitching coach for Lincoln Memorial University. During that time, the Railsplitters were nationally ranked and reached the postseason for the first time since 1999. He also spent time as an assistant on both the baseball and football teams at Hiram College.
Roberson has also served as the pitching coach for the Fayetteville SwampDogs of the Coastal Plain League, one of the top wooden bat college leagues in the country. In 2012, Fayetteville made the Coast Plain League Petitt Cup finals and had the best earned run average in the Coastal Plain League.
Roberson graduated from Miamisburg High school and pitched for four years at Defiance College where he received a degree in management and economics. He received his MBA while serving on the staff at Lincoln Memorial University.
