Head coach Jayson King announced the addition of Tommy Winterstein to the Dayton baseball staff in the fall of 2023.
Winterstein joins the Flyers after spending the last two seasons as the pitching coach at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. As one of the top prep schools in the country, Winterstein worked as the post-graduate level pitching coordinator which won 33 games in 2022 and held a .692 winning percentage in 2023. He also served as a roving pitching instructor for the varsity teams and helped major and minor league pitchers in the offseason with workouts.

Prior to his time at IMG, Winterstein was the pitching coach for two seasons at the University of Toledo where the staff set the single-season record for strikeouts (403) in 24 fewer innings than the previous record. Winterstein also spent three seasons at Western Kentucky as the program’s volunteer assistant coach and camp director.
Winterstein graduated from Charleston Southern University where he was a student assistant as well as the Director of Player Development upon graduation.
