Austin King is in his fifth year with the Flyers and his third as offensive coordinator. King, 37, is a native of Cincinnati who was an NFL offensive lineman for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons from 2003-06.
King was a three-sport captain and First Team All-Ohio football player for Purcell Marian High School. After graduating as the salutorian of his high school class, he went on to Northwestern University, where he was a four-year starter. King was three-time Honorable Mention All- Big 10, and a three-time winner of the Randy Walker Wildcat Warrior Award. He was twice named Academic All-Big 10 and a two-time Verizon Academic All-District selection. He was team captain as a senior.
He earned his B.A. in secondary education from Northwestern in 2004.
After being selected in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL draft (133rd pick overall) by the Bucs, King finished his career by seeing action in 34 games over three seasons with the Falcons.
King began his college coaching career at the University of Toledo, where he was the Rockets’ offensive quality control coach in 2012 and 2013. Assisting with the offensive line, King helped Toledo average 33 points a game and 240 yards per game on the ground while allowing just six sacks in 361 pass attempts. In 2014, King was offensive quality control coach at Syracuse where he assisted once again with the offensive line.
