Charlie O'Dell is in his fourth year with the Dayton football coaching staff after eight seasons as a high school football coach in the Dayton area. He moves to coach UD's defensive line this season. In addition to coaching at Dayton, O'Dell is also on the FCS Assistant Coaches Committee for the American Football Coaches Association.
O'Dell played four seasons at Wittenberg University and has had coaching stints at Greeneview (two seasons), Bellbrook (four years) and Fairmont High Schools (two seasons). A social studies teacher in the middle school at his alma mater of Bellbrook, he has also coached track there and is currently the head boys' track coach for the Eagles.
Off the field, he is a past president of the Miami Valley Football Coaches Association and has served as a high school committee member for the American Football Coaches Association. An Eagle Scout, he has also served as a volunteer committee member for Bellbrook's Boy Scout Troop 75 since 2008.
O'Dell graduated from Wittenberg in 2006 with a B.A. in History. He also earned his Master's in Education from McGregor University in 2008.
Charlie and his wife Erin, reside in Beavercreek. His brother Jack played receiver at UD and is the Flyer single-game record holder for catches in a game (14 vs. Drake in 2007).
