Kyle Hazell, a four-year member of the Flyer football team for Rick Chamberlin, joined Trevor Andrews’s first staff as a graduate assistant. Hazell coaches the UD tight ends.
Hazell played in 20 games in 2021 and 2022, catching 34 passes for 402 yards (11.8 average) with a touchdown. After finishing his playing career, he served as a student coach for Dayton during the team’s 2023 spring practice.
A member of West Lafayette (Ind.) High School’s 2018 state championship team, Hazell’s father Darrell had a 32-year coaching career, with head coaching stops at Kent state and Purdue, and a two-year stint as an assistant with the Minnesota Vikings.
Kyle graduated Cum Laude for UD in the spring of 2023, and is in the UD communications grad program.
