Staymon Johnson joined the Flyer football staff in the spring of 2023. He coaches the Dayton defensive ends. Johnson comes to UD from Wofford, where he was the defensive quality control coach and assisted with the defensive line.
A native of Pilot Mountain, N.C., Johnson is a graduate of Emory & Henry, earning his degree in mathematics secondary education in 2020. He played linebacker for four seasons at Emory & Henry. A four-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team, he was named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society after his playing career ended. Johnson was also a member of the Wasp tennis team.
