A Centerville, Ohio, native, Matt Girouard begins his first season as volunteer assistant coach with the Flyer volleyball team in 2013. This is Girouard’s third season overall with the squad after serving as team manager in 2012 and he was a practice player for the Flyers in 2011.
Prior to his time with the UD volleyball team, Girouard played three seasons of men’s club volleyball at Dayton and served as the club president for one year as well. He has made coaching stops with several teams in the Dayton area including spending the 2011 season with Sinclair Community College. Girouard has also led several club teams including Air City Chicks and Vanguard.
Girouard graduated from Dayton in 2013 with a degree in journalism. His parents, Dave and Ruth, are also UD grads (1982) and his younger sister Emily is currently enrolled at the university as well.
He also spent two years on the Alter High School boys varsity team where his younger brother Danny is the squad’s starting libero.
