Coach Sheffield's Outlook: “She's the heart of this team.  Her commitment to excellence both on and off the court for herself and her teammates is unbelievable.  Rachael's one of the best leaders that I've been around and I lean on her a lot.  She is someone who inspires people with both her work ethic and her words.  You know what you are going to get from Rachael each and every day - every single thing that she has.”

2010 (Senior): Presented with the team's Bring It! Award for the third consecutive season and the R. Elaine Dreidame Award ... Played in all 32 matches ... Recorded over 100 matches for the first time in her career with 146 digs in 91 sets played ... Recorded 10 or more digs three times ... A career-high 16 digs helped defeat No. 22 Northern Iowa (9/3) in the Diet Coke Classic ... Started as the primary libero at La Salle (10/9), recording 15 digs ... Followed up with 12 digs at Xavier (10/15) in a match which featured a combined total of 140 digs – the second-most of any NCAA Division I match this season ... Reached a career-high of two aces twice in 2010 against Delaware (9/17) and Xavier (10/29), totaling eight matches with two aces throughout her four-year career.

2009 (Junior): Played in 23 matches with 46 digs ... Showed efficiency at the service line with season-highs of two aces against Saint Louis (11/22) and Temple (10/2) – just playing in two sets for both matches ... Season-high of seven digs came in consecutive days against Oregon State (9/18) and Marquette (9/19) at the Michigan/adidas Invitational. 

2008 (Sophomore): Played in 31 of 34 matches ... Recorded 13 service aces on 266 tries, notching two service aces in four matches ... Chalked up 10 digs against Northwestern (9/5) ... Notched eight more against Albany (9/27) and George Washington (10/3).

2007 (Freshman): Played in 19 matches to record 1.27 digs per set ... Tallied five service aces in 59 attempts ... Snuck in two aces against Rhode Island (9/28) ... Posted a career-high 12 digs against Jacksonville (9/8) ... Followed with nine digs against Radford (9/8) later that day in the Wake Forest Black and Gold Challenge ... Appeared in final set of victory over Lipscomb during the NCAA First Round at Frericks Center.

High School: Guided St. Mary's High School to top-four finishes in the CHSAA State Tournament all four years ... Set CHSAA All-Class records for digs in a set and digs in a match ... A Two-time All-State Second Team pick ... Four-time member of The Gazette Dream Team ... Finished her prep career ranked third in Colorado history for career service aces and sixth in career assists ... As a senior, was named to the All-Region First Team ... Missed most of her junior season due to an ACL injury that was featured as part of a two-part article in USA Volleyball magazine on young female athletes and ACL injuries ... Named the 2007 Top Female Student-Athlete at St. Mary's High School ... A three-time letter-winner in basketball ... National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society member.

Personal: Born July 17, 1989 to Chuck and Vickie Broerman ... Has three sisters (Sarah, Laura and Emily) ... Older sister Sarah played DII volleyball at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs ... Plans to become a Pre-Med major, hoping to become an orthopedic surgeon.
