The University of Dayton men's golf team finished eighth place at the EKU Invitational in Richmond, Kentucky on Friday, despite bad weather conditions causing the cancellation of the final two rounds. Senior Brett Gould paced the Flyers with a one-under-par 70 performance in the opening round, tying him for third place and only one stroke off the leader.

The UD men carded a 304 (+16) after round one, putting them 13 strokes back from the eventual winners Eastern Kentucky University. The Flyers had hoped to better the next two rounds but due to bad weather throughout Friday night and Sunday morning, the final two rounds of the invitational were cancelled.

Finishing second for the Flyers was senior Bill Everding (St. Louis, MO) with a 74 (+2) tied for 19. He was followed by junior Adam Myers (Franklin, OH) 79 (+7) Tied for 53rd, senior Tim Skufka (Chardon, OH) 80 (+8) tied for 65th, and senior A.J. Quinter (Minster, OH) 81 (+9) tied for 72nd.

Eastern Kentucky won the invitational with a score of 291 (+3), followed by Tennessee Tech 292 (+4), Austin Peay State University 293 (+5), and Samford University 296 (+8).

The Dayton men are back in action Monday and Tuesday April 5th and 6th in the when they co-host the UD/UC Invitational. The first round of the tournament will be held at Clovernook Country Club in Cincinnati and the second round here in Dayton at the Yankee Trace Country Club.
