Coming off a successful 2006-07 campaign, the University of Dayton honored the 2006-07 men's golf team at its annual awards banquet.
For the second consecutive season, sophomore Rob Chappell earned the team's Most Valuable Player award.
The other honor went to sophomore Nick Trubee earning the Coaches' Award. The Coaches' Award exemplifies a student-athlete who is a consummate team player that goes above and beyond to make a difference.
After winning the MVP award last season, Chappell led the Flyers in stroke average at 74.09 in the fall and is second on the squad during the spring season at 79.6. Chappell's best performance of the 2006-07 campaign came at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational where he shot a second round 68 and finished the tournament tied for 14th.
Trubee is fourth on the squad during the spring season in stroke average (81.4) and total rounds played (11). His stroke average in the fall was 74.7 and his best performance came this spring where he shot a second round 73 at the Eastern Kentucky Intercollegiate.
The Flyers are coming off a third place finish at the 2007 UD Spring Invitational. It was the best finish for Dayton during in the spring season.
Dayton will conclude the 2006-07 season at the Atlantic 10 Championship May 4-6 from Winter Garden, Fla.
