Coming off a season in which she led the Dayton Flyers in stroke average and total rounds played, freshman Julie Pouliquen earned the 2007-08 Most Valuable Player Award at the women's golf team's banquet.
Senior Mary Kane won the Coaches Award honoring her leadership, academic success and community service efforts.
Pouliquen is the second consecutive freshman to win the team's MVP award. Last season Katie Dempsey earned the honor.
In 2007-08 Pouliquen won the Youngstown State Invitational and the Bellarmine Invitational. She led the Flyers with an 80.7 stroke average and tied for the team lead in total rounds at 20.
Kane enjoyed career bests in stroke average (86.2), total rounds (14) and an individual best round (73) this season. Off the course Kane is a four-time member of the Dean's List and has served as a team captain.
In addition to the team awards, head coach Sally Kosters honored the achievements of each individual team member. The freshmen, Ellen Ciacchini, Heather Grant, Megan Keating and Pouliquen each received a plaque with the Varsity `D'. The sophomore class, Dempsey, Cari DeAngelis, Elaine English, Katie Gallagher, Casey Peterson and Paige Smith were given lettermen jackets and Kane received a varsity ring.
The Flyers enjoyed a memorable 2007-08 campaign. UD won the Ashland Invitational and the Bellarmine Invitational earlier this spring and finished in the Top Five in seven events this season.
